This seemed like a good excuse to crochet. Like I needed one. XD

I can't think of red without thinking of Gryffindor! So here's a quickie Gryffindor coaster.





And while I'm at it... why not? A ranking of my top ten favorite Gryffindor characters:

Thank you so much! I just learned last year. Took a class at my local library. My first attempts were very sad indeed. LOL! But I finally got it, and it's done wonders for my mental health.

I know a printmaker who's like, "I just can't get my fingers to do that!" And I'm like, "...but you can register a 4-color linocut...."

Point being that obviously some crafts call to us or suit us more strongly than others. But if you can find one that suits you, mannnn is it relaxing, indeed. Getting in that flow.

I'm a sucker for coloring books, too. :D

My craft of choice right now is baking, but unfortunately there's only so many six-hour stretches of time I have free to make fancy bread. It's wonderfully soothing though.

Ahhhh, I do love Cormac, but I could only pick 10 after all! Full disclosure: I rarely read or write fic about some of these on the list. But I adore the way they were written by JKR. Such beautifully complex characters, and so heartbreakingly tragic in many cases. All perfect embodiments of red to me.

That's a lovely coaster in red and gold. I'm much more yellow and black myself, but the coaster pops very nicely, and I hope it does what it's supposed to do.

(Neville's my favorite Gryffindor, mostly because I think he embodies the kind of person who can draw Godric's sword from the Hat for reasons other than the plot needing it.)

I will admit to being heavily biased! But yeah... Neville is very, very close behind Dumbledore for me. A lion through and through.

His complexity! His hubris. His tragedy. For me, he's right up there with Snape in terms of morally ambiguous characters. We got a peek of that in DH, and I hope we get to see it play out in all its messiness in FB.

Omg, wow!! You crochet so fast <3 And the product is very cute. I love crocheting but I decided to go all in (after two very average scarves) and started on a scrap-yarn granny square blanket. With very thin yarn. oTL I'll be so proud of myself to have finished it, so many tens of hours will have gone into it by the end it might total a hundred. xD

If you were in a Hogwarts house, would it have been Gryffindor?

OOOOOH a fellow happy hooker! Nice to meet you, and thank you!! The coaster is 2 squares, 15 sc x 14r each, worsted weight, 5.5mm hook. Finished together with a 2-round sc edging. So a super quick make.

I recently finished granny square afghan, which I hilariously thought would be fun to crochet in DK weight on a 4.0mm hook. XD Yeah, no. Took 3 solid weeks, about 9-10 hours a day. So... almost 200 hours? But I got there at last, and so you will you! Keep it up! \o/

Most assuredly. Act fast, think later, and never pass on an opportunity for mischief. :D

God, why are we like this? I think I'm using a 4mm or 5mm hook and the same weight yarn for mine as well, it's... *facepalm* I did accidentally buy some yarn that was a touch too thick as well, so it's just going to be a frankenstinian beast in every way. I shall be ever so proud of it LOL. Thank you, I will do my best! ♥ Now that I'm caught up on B99 I need another show that I can watch in the background while I crochet.

Baaahahahaha omg. I remember when I first started crocheting and was like, but all the yarn has to be the saaaame. And just kept on buying 1 ball of every pretty yarn on the planet until I had no choice but to start putting it all together or be swallowed in a mountain of it (not that this would be a bad way to go). And of course there's no going back once you've embraced the frankenbeast. :D
